We desire to practice a spirituality of stewardship.
These are the marks of stewardship: gratitude, responsibility, generosity, and increase. As people of faith we ask God to open our eyes to see that our worship and works come from a place of abundance, not scarcity. Filled with the Holy Spirit, we can see clearly that God the Father first gave abundantly to us from his own abundance, his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, “raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20). God raised Jesus from the dead (Acts 2:24; 3:15; 4:10; etc.) and offers him to us as the “first-fruits” of the Resurrection—the first and best “profit” from the wealth of God’s loving work of salvation.
We experience the first-fruits of God’s abundant harvest when we encounter Christ in the sacraments—preeminently the Eucharist (cf. John 6:53-58). But we encounter Christ also in the Word of Sacred Scripture and Tradition. We encounter him in each other as we belong to Jesus and one another as members of his Body, the Church (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:12-26). We encounter the Lord in the neediest among us (cf. Matthew 25:40). The first-fruits of God—Jesus—is all around us. God lavishes us with his wealth. Out of our friendship with God and one another, we respond accordingly: “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first-fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10).
Gift of Time
St. Raymond Parish has both internal ministries and those that reach out into the community to support populations in need. Parishioners are encouraged to get involved with ministries that speak most to their talents and interests.
