Children's Liturgy of the Word

Ages 3-7

Every Sunday during the 10:00 am Mass

Before the scripture readings begins the children and volunteers will be called to come forward to be blessed by the celebrant.

The children will process to the assigned space and hear the same scripture readings proclaimed at the Mass. It will be explained at the level they will understand and enjoy it.

The children will return to their family at the Mass as the offertory and Liturgy of the Eucharist begins.

Religion Classes

Grades Pre-K and Kindergarten

For children ages 4 and up in pre-school and kindergarten.

In these early years, a child’s heart is open and eager to learn. Our religious education plants seeds of faith, love, and God’s joy, helping little ones grow spiritually while discovering prayer, kindness, and the beauty of our Catholic faith.

First Reconciliation & First Communion

Grades 1 & 2

2 Year Program

† Year 1 (Pre-Communion) – Class of St. Therese of the Child Jesus

† Year 2 (First Communion) – Class of St. Margaret Mary

 

Preparing for your child’s First Communion is an exciting and meaningful step in their faith journey. Our dedicated catechists are here to guide your family every step of the way. This two-year program helps children and families grow in faith together, and we hope you’ll join us with the same excitement!

 

Classes are held on Sundays, 9:00-10:00am, for children and parents.  Your children will be with their catechists while parents will have their own class.  This is to allow reinforcement at home.  You should be able to discuss faith as a family and all prepare for the Sacraments which your children will receive in the spring. Attendance to Sunday Mass is expected every Sunday.  The annual retreat (on April 18th) and two rehearsals right before First Communion are mandatory.

Religion Classes

Grades 3, 4, 5, & 6

For children who have received their First Communion.

To lead families in their continuing faith journey, the Religious Education Program of St. Raymond offers the following classes:

† 3rd Year of RE – Class of St. Catherine of Siena
† 4th Year of RE – Class of St. Martin de Porres
† 5th Year of RE – Class of St. Albert the Great
† 6th Year of RE – Class of St. John Paul II

Faith formation doesn’t stop with First Communion—grades 3–6 are a crucial time before children enter middle school. These years help them deepen their relationship with God, strengthen prayer and understanding of our Catholic faith, and build a spiritual foundation that will guide them through the challenges of their teenage years. We look forward to walking this journey with your child and your family.

Two years of Religion classes after First Communion are a requirement before a student can enroll in the parish two year Confirmation program.

Confirmation

Grades 7 & 8

2 Year Program

† Year 1 (Pre-Confirmation) – Class of St. Thomas Aquinas
† Year 2 (Confirmation) – Class of St. Dominic

The Confirmation program is integrated in the youth group, which meets every Sunday right after the 5PM Mass. Confirmation Mass is scheduled for April 25 at the 5 pm Mass.

Welcome to BEAST – (Be A Saint)
We’re not called to be average. We’re called to be holy—bold, joyful, and alive in Christ. Every week, we’ll grow in faith, serve others, tackle big questions, and build real friendships.
Are you ready to go BEAST mode?

Weekly Themes:

    • BEAST Salt and Light –  Games, dinner, talk, small groups, and prayer
    • BEAST Hot Topic Debates – Guest-led topic nights 
    • BEAST Service Nights – Monthly local service missions
    • BEAST Games – Chill social nights with food and games or ice skating, beach, etc.
    •  
  • + 2 special events:
    • BEAST Retreat – sleep away profound encounter with God and filled with fun in the Santa Cruz mountains, Nov 14-16. We had a blast!
    • BEAST Service Trip: June 13-19, open to all current 8th-12th graders, more details to come.

Prerequisite: 

  • Attended at least 2 years of religion classes after First Communion. (If transferring from a different parish, provide a certification/letter from their DRE , and please check in with the Faith Formation Director.)

  • Meets periodically for Youth Jam on Sunday after the 8 am Mass and for Youth Nights.
